Put Some Mountain in the Capitol

Elect Mike Crane - Senate District 51

Republican opponent for Sonny Perdue in Primary - July 18

During both the 2005 and 2006 Legislature sessions, I took several days off and made the over two hour drive to the Capitol. There were several reasons for these trips. One is of course to make the best effort possible to promote the legislation that I believe represents good government.

This was mostly a very disappointing experience. Since I have been visiting the Legislature in Session since the 1970's I have some basis to compare the 2005/2006 Sessions with previous years. That is mostly a disappointing comparison and I have expressed that sentiment.

In my opinion, the 2005/2006 Legislative Sessions were for the benefit of special interests, mostly the large multi-national corporations and Metro Atlanta Chamber (and other similar chamber types). The citizens, us plain ole ordinary people who pay for this mess - were ignored. There were some excellent bills in the legislature, but most of them did not even rate a public hearing under the "New Day in Georgia" leadership! This new day we have - has turned out to be a cold and windy day with freezing rain. About as useful as a screen door on a submarine!

For making these comments I have been accused of being a Democrat, Bush Bashing, etc. But these same folks did not mind when we exposed the Roy Barnes corruption. I call that Party over Principle. Perhaps they should invest in a dictionary and look up the word "independent."

But back to the subject at hand. Was very surprised to receive an invitation from a Republican planning to announce for the office of governor. The invitation was to provide input on issues and what represents good government. On April 18, at 10:30 AM in the Capitol I was honored to make one of the introduction talks for Mr. McBerry's Announcement that he is a candidate for governor and will be on the Republican Primary ballot on July 18. I have included my 2 minute talk  below and urge all citizens to visit Ray McBerry's campaign site at: http://GeorgiaFirst.org

If you want multiple voices to represent the citizens in the State Capitol I hope you will consider helping both campaigns, the special interests will not. The special interests seem happy with the current incumbants.

Delivered at the Capitol by Mike Crane, 18 April at 10:30 to announce the Southern Party of Georgia support for the campaign of Ray McBerry for Governor of Georgia.

Thank you Tim …

It is indeed a great honor to be here today - as an independent candidate for the State Senate  AND - as a representative of the Southern Party, a grass roots effort to restore good government.

Good government is something that is very fundamental and something the vast majority of Georgians want and desire.

But good government is becoming increasingly rare. Instead of government of the people, by the people, for the people - we get lip service and government for the special interests.

In Ray McBerry the citizens of Georgia have an opportunity to end the unholy influence of special interests here – in our Capitol.

We need a governor who understands the Constitution and our Founding Principles – Ray McBerry is that man!

We need a governor who understands that our rights are fundamental and derived from God and that the primary function of government is to protect the rights of its citizens. Ray McBerry is such a man!

We need a governor who has the principles and gumption to stand up to the special interests – Ray McBerry is that man!

We need a governor who will  represent all Georgians and NOT just practice Party over Principle – the fact that I am standing here today is living proof that Ray McBerry is that man.

Most of all we need a governor who is NOT a career politician and can relate to the issues affecting Georgians, their families and values - Ray McBerry is that man!

I along with the Southern Party urge each and every citizen of Georgia to look at Ray’s platform - and then join us in ending the unholy influence of special interests and returning Georgia’s government back to its citizens.

Thank you.
