Republican
Georgia Senator Saxby "Cheap Labor" Chambliss pushing H-1B visas

As most are aware both of
Georgia's Republican Senators were active participants in the John
McCain - Ted Kennedy - George Bush amnesty bill now being pushed in
the US Senate. Senator Saxby "Cheap Labor" Chambliss of
course claims he is not for amnesty and the John McCain - Ted
Kennedy - George Bush amnesty bill is not amnesty!
He also claims that unless we
provide this amnesty, we will have to
import our vegetables ??? Here is a brief audio clip of
this absurd logic along with boos and jeers at the Georgia State
Republican Convention:

Whether you are for or against
amnesty, it does not take a rocket scientist to know that he is
using double speak. Prior to political correctness it would have
just been called what it really is - lying!
But I wanted to show you another
Chambliss Trade Mark in this piece of legislation that he worked so
closely with his friend (his own word) Senator Ted "Blond in
every Pond" Kennedy. Chambliss is well known for his open
support of H-1B visas and his open acknowledgement that he favors
this transfer of American jobs to foreigners to benefit a major
beverage company (Coke) and airline (Delta) headquartered in
Georgia.
I downloaded a copy of this over
300 page piece of legislation (click
here for your own PDF copy) and searched for H-1B Visas.
At this point - if you want some
background, in 2006 Senator Saxby Chambliss proposed allowing an
additional 30,000 H-1B visas and letting any company replace an
American with a foreigner by paying a $500.00 fee. (See:
Georgia US Senator Chambliss PROPOSES selling 30,000 American jobs
for $500.00 each - Support of Coke and Delta implied ...).
His statement at the time:
But I chaired the
Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship in the
Senate Judiciary Committee during the 108th Congress. During that
time, I worked very closely with my friends and colleagues, Senator
Kennedy
and Senator Grassley,
to enact H -1B reform legislation
So lets see - is Senator Saxby
Chambliss is also trying to sneak through some H-1B visa increases
in this Amnesty bill.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!
Copying and pasting from page
217 of the pdf copy of this legislation which he helped Senator Ted
"Blonde in every Pond" Kennedy write behind closed doors:
SEC. 419. H-1B STREAMLINING
AND SIMPLIFICATION
(a) H-1B Amendments.- Section 214(g) of the
Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1184(g)) is amended-
(1) in paragraph (1) by deleting clauses (i)
through (vii) of subparagraph (A) and inserting in their place --
"(i) 115,000
in fiscal year 2008;
"(ii) in any subsequent fiscal year, subject to
clause (iii), the number for the previous fiscal year as
adjusted in accordance with the method set forth in paragraph
(2); and
.(iii) 180,000
for any fiscal year; or.
(2) in paragraph (9), as renumbered by Section
405.
(A) by striking .The annual numeric limitations
described in clause (i) shall not exceed" from subclause (ii) of
subparagraph (B) and inserting the following: .Without
respect to the annual numeric limitation described in clause (i),
the Secretary may issue a visa or otherwise grant nonimmigrant
status pursuant to section 1101(a)(15)(H)(i)(b) in the following
quantities:";
(B) by striking subparagraphs (B)(iv); and
(C) by striking subparagraph (D).
Not exactly clear what all of
these modifications do, but the numbers are certainly clear.
Increase from the current 65,000 to
115,000 in 2008 and
180,000 in any later fiscal year.
That is an extra 50,000 American
jobs transferred to foreigners in 2008 and an extra 115,000 in later
years. This will not be so funny - if it is your job.
The phrase "Without
respect to the annual numeric limitation"
does not sound very promising either!
Is this double speak for unlimited H-1B visas?
The language for protection of
American workers is a joke! I know from experience how this works.
Companies load up on H-1B visas at entry level salaries, then claim
they are over staffed and do a layoff (now called "reduction in
force" - RIF) which just happens to be all Americans.
So Senator Chambliss's intent is
very clear. His efforts to use double speak are less than honest and
a blatant attempt to mislead the citizens of Georgia. He is just
another out of touch US Senator promoting "cheap labor" oblivious to
the effect on the citizens he has sworn to represent while
depositing big campaign contributions. Before political correctness
this would have been called corruption.
After listening to the audio
clip above and hearing delegates at the State Republican convention
openly booing Senator Chambliss I have regained some lost respect
for Georgia Republicans. It is refreshing to see the Republicans who
built the Republican party in Georgia standing up to some of their
so called leaders who have sold the people of Georgia down the
river.
Party over Principle has gotten
them into this mess. Perhaps now the mainstream Republican party
will drop Party over Principle and support some open and fair
political competition in Georgia! We warned all - about Chambliss's
questionable legislative efforts in both 2006 (See:
Georgia US Senator Chambliss PROPOSES selling 30,000 American jobs
for $500.00 each - Support of Coke and Delta implied ...)
and in 2005 (See:
Georgia Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss proposes increased
immigration amendment).
It should also be noted that in
the minimum wage debate earlier this year he argued that illegals
working in agriculture positions should not be paid the minimum
wage! Then he turns around and implies Americans are "lazy"
because they do not flock to wages that won't even cover the cost of
child care expense.
It would sure be nice if
Republicans would take their Party back from the neo-cons!
As a closing note on illegal
immigration - a Republican Presidential candidate "already"
banned from the Republican debates has a short video on the subject.

to view it. It answers a lot of questions about why we are facing
another Amnesty when a majority of Americans are opposed and the
previous amnesty programs were a failure.
Call Senators Chambliss and
Isakson's office all week. Let Senator Chambliss's office know that
you are aware that he is up for re-election next year.
He will understand that more than anything
else.
